January 2012 page 43 Coding Correction: Immunization Administration for Vaccines/Toxoids The definition of a component as it applies to vaccines in the March 2011 issue of CPT Assistant (p 3) provided the following inadvertently incorrect instruction: The definition of component was added to the CPT guidelines to clarify the use of a component. A component refers to each antigen in a vaccine that prevents disease(s) caused by one organism (eg, see codes 90460 and 90461).
