September 2017 pages 3-5 Transcatheter Closure of Paravalvular Leak In the Medicine/Cardiovascular section of the Current Procedure Terminology (CPT®) 2017 code set, a new subsection, Transcatheter Closure of Paravalvular Leak, was created to identify repairs performed for paravalvular leaks (PVLs) and to allow the reporting of catheter-based PVL closure procedures. This new subsection includes guidelines, parenthetical instructions, and three new codes (93590, 93591, 93592).
